The Lincoln City Police Department currently contracts with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office for formal Animal Services Deputy (ASD) services. The ASD is dedicated to providing at least 20 hours of service to Lincoln City residents each week for animal control services, the handling of injured animals, and the abatement of animal nuisances. Through this cooperative agreement with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the City of Lincoln City funds a portion of the ASD budget.

Animal complaints originating within Lincoln City should be made to the Lincoln City Police Department's non-emergency telephone number of 541-994-3636.

During hours when the animal control officer is off duty, or if the animal control officer is otherwise unavailable, a Uniformed Patrol Officer may be dispatched to animal related calls and should take appropriate actions to control the situation.

Although the Lincoln City Police Department has a small pen and shelter for the temporary housing of found animals, the City of Lincoln City does not operate its own animal shelter. The closest animal shelter is operated by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and can be located at 510 NE Harney Street in Newport, OR.
