The basic function of the Lincoln City Police Department 911 Center is to satisfy the immediate information needs of the Lincoln City Police Department and North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District #1 in the course of their normal daily activities and during emergencies. The 911 Center serves as a critical link between the public and emergency responders.

This department provides 24-hour telephone service to the public for information or assistance that may be needed in emergencies. The ability of citizens to telephone quickly and easily for emergency service is critical.

In addition to advanced two-way radio communications, the Lincoln City Police Department 911 Center utilizes a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system designed to help public safety agencies in responding to requests for service. The CAD system improves productivity and effectiveness in the 911 Center by automating many time-consuming activities such as call taking, dispatching, communication, deployment and unit status recording activities. The Lincoln City 911 Center also offers TEXT to 911 for situations when a crime is in progress, the caller is facing domestic abuses, the caller is injured and cannot speak or when the caller is hearing impaired.
